Europress - Europress - Tailored deliveries make Life easier

When steel beams, steel plates, and special components are delivered to Europress, they are packed and sorted in a specific way—everything to make life easier for assemblers and welders on the workshop floor.

They arrive at one end of the workshop: custom-cut components and steel plates that have been laser-cut, plasma-cut, or flame-cut at Tibnor’s production unit in Seinäjoki. Also included are steel beams and tubes with the correct cuts and with holes placed in exactly the right positions, produced at the Hyvinkää production unit. Some of the material is delivered on specially designed pallets to make the components as easily accessible as possible.

This allows assembly and welding work to begin immediately, enabling Europress to focus on its core business—design and in-house production.

Europress is a Finnish family-owned company founded in the late 1970s. The company manufactures waste compactors for various applications.

Environmental Technology of the Future

Europress waste compactors must withstand heavy loads, heat, and extreme cold, and the quality requirements are high.

“Europress should be able to focus on production, and it is our job to ensure they have the best possible conditions for that. We want to meet their needs by offering a complete solution that takes into account product development, materials, processing, and delivery,” says Marko Karppinen, Regional Manager at Tibnor.

Smart waste compactors—now becoming increasingly common at recycling stations across Finland—are one of Europress’s new initiatives. These allow consumers to sort and recycle plastic and cardboard waste. Europress compactors compress the waste, and the container owner can monitor fill levels in real time, optimizing emptying schedules.

This has a positive environmental impact, as it reduces unnecessary transport of air—a common issue when waste is not compacted.

From Tibnor’s units in Seinäjoki and Hyvinkää, Europress receives laser-cut steel tubes, size-cut and specially cut steel components, and steel plates—as well as machine parts sourced by Tibnor from its subcontractors. Some of the material is delivered tailor-packed on pallets, amounting to approximately 160–200 tons of steel per month.

The collaboration between Tibnor and Europress has long-standing roots, and communication between the companies is close. Together, they develop new technical solutions, particularly when special requirements arise that demand steel with new properties.

In development work, collaboration is essential—both for the software used in smart waste compactors and the steel used to manufacture the containers. Marko Aaltio, Development Director at Europress, emphasizes that every kilogram removed from the final product benefits the environment by reducing fuel consumption in transportation.

“That is why we are particularly interested in learning about new steel grades or new technologies that can help us.”
