The natural choice

SSAB Multisteel SN meets the requirements for four steel grades and saves time in the workshop

SSAB Multisteel SN is a sheet with many faces. As one of the few products, it is able to meet four different types of steel, which greatly reduces the need for different materials in the warehouse. In addition, it is very flat - even after cutting.

Lönneberga Mekaniska Verkstads AB (LMV) is a Swedish, family-owned workshop company that works with steel constructions, welding, contract manufacturing, building forging, multi-storey frames, bridges, bending, turning and milling. After many proposals and negotiations, some time ago they tested SSAB Multisteel SN.

- My workshop manager came to me and told me that they no longer needed to direct the cut parts to a construction. We could go directly from cutting to welding and assembly, says Ulf Persson, site manager at Lönneberga mekaniska AB. It saved us a lot of time.

The fact that it just became SSAB Multisteel is also explained by the fact that at the time there was available capacity in SSAB's steelworks in Brahestad in Finland. The product fit in well as an alternative to the ordinary steel quality. Multisteel is characterized by fine flatness and is always stored indoors.

- We saw an opportunity to satisfy a need, so it was exciting to see what the customer thought. We knew that the product was good, and the fact that the customer later realized the advantage didn't make matters worse, says Niklas Karlsson, sales manager at SSAB.

Deliveries via Tibnor

Tibnor is SSAB's subsidiary and works closely with the steel-consuming customers. Thanks to the close contact, business flows smoothly.

- We have supplied various materials to Lönneberga Mekaniska for a number of years and with Multisteel we can more easily meet several standards with one material. Good for our business and easy for the customer to order, says Henrik Nické Gustavsson, sales manager at Tibnor.

Forklifts, timber tracks and elevators for a luxury cruiser

As a manufacturer, you may come across a number of different requests. Over time, the basis for LMV has been trucks and components for trucks. Other recurring customers are sawmills that order roller conveyors and equipment to handle timber. In the complex world of the manufacturing industry, certificates and certificates are increasingly required. As one of the first companies, LMV was certified for EN 1090-2, which led to a very odd request - to supply frames for elevators on two luxury cruisers, including "Freedom of the Sea".

- Thanks to the certificate, a consulting firm found us and we were able to supply complete steel frames for the lifts on the boats. It's probably the most special delivery I've been a part of. Imagine that our construction transported people and goods up and down the seven seas, says Ulf.
