The natural choice

It should be easy to make sustainable decisions

To provide the industry with a wide range of products and services within steel and metals, both now and in the future, we work in close cooperation with suppliers who have a lower-than-average emission intensity. We have under a long time used general sustainability requirements when choosing our suppliers, but since just over a year ago we have also had emission intensity as a criterion. Welcome to explore our Low-CO2 assortment.

In Tibnor, we're not just selling; we're shaping a greener future. Check out our 'Low-CO2 Assortment'—proof of our commitment to a sustainable tomorrow.

FAQ: Tibnor Low-CO2 Assortment

What type of products are Tibnor providing with Low CO2?

How does the emission data model work and what is behind the numbers?

Tibnor’s emission data model holds information for product life cycle stages A1-A3. This is also known as a cradle-to-gate assessment, a model that assesses a product’s environmental footprint from raw materials extraction (cradle) until it leaves the factory (gate).

For the respective product, the weighted average emission intensity (kg CO2e per kg steel) is calculated based on supplier specific emissions and the relative share of volume per supplier.

The calculations consist of three levels:

  1. If an EPD exists, the total GWP (Global Warming Potential) value from the EPD is used
  2. If (1) is not applicable, crude steel emissions data on supplier-site level is used from the database “CRU Emissions Analysis Tool” and complemented with proxy emissions for rolling and further processing
  3. If none of (1) and (2) are applicable, global average crude steel emissions  are used and complemented with proxy emissions for rolling and further processing

What type of products are Tibnor providing with Low CO2?

How much less carbon footprint do your products within your Low CO2 assortment have compared to other products?

It depends a little on the type of product and shape. By buying, for example, a beam from the Low CO2 assortment, 800 kg of CO2 per ton emissions are reduced.
